Submission Guidelines
If you would like to
keep in touch with graduate school colleagues, past interns, or post-docs and let others know what you have
been up to since graduation, in terms of your job, your family, or other things
you have been doing since getting your PhD, then send us the information and we
will include it here. Be sure to provide us with the year you graduated or
interned so we
can organize entries in this section by year. Try to limit
your submission to 500 words. You can send it in the body of your e-mail or as
a MS Word attachment. If you choose to include a picture, please send it in .jpg
format and reduced in size. We look forward to hearing from you !

I am
currently a Litigation Consultant in Chicago IL, the
greatest city in the world. My work involves analyzing and predicting
jury decision-making. While challenging and difficult, it has turned
out to be a very rewarding career choice that never has a dull moment.
When I am not working, I am spending time with the family, and
watching “da Bears, da Bulls, da Cubs…etc.” My favorite UF memory
involved bringing my newborn son (Billy) into the Clinical
Psychology department so all the students and faculty could meet him.
I also enjoyed throwing parties with my classmates — we were a very
fun group of soon-to-be psychologists. My least favorite
memory was September 11, 2001. I was teaching in the
Health Science program and had to tell 65 UF undergraduate students
that terrorists had hijacked planes, crashed them into the World Trade
Center, and killed thousands of people. I had just learned of the news
myself 15 minutes before that, and the students had no idea. My best lesson
learned at UF was don’t beat yourself up for making
mistakes…as mistakes are normal. In fact, they are critical for
personal and professional growth. However, if you make the same
mistakes repeatedly…then yes, you should beat yourself up…repeatedly.

After
receiving my degree, completing a post-doctoral fellowship, and taking a
position with Dr. Suzanne Johnson at the Florida State University College
of Medicine, I have recently moved back to Columbus, Ohio. Here, I am an
Assistant Professor at Ohio State University and Nationwide Children's
Hospital where I work with the oncology, NICU, palliative care, and
diabetes teams. After being there for internship and a post-doc it has
been
nice to return to familiar territory. AND, I did not return alone! .... I
got married in June up in Maine to a pediatric neuropsychologist, who I
met in Columbus during training. It took a long time, but we now both have
faculty positions in the same department. The wedding was a blast and we
had a good turnout of classmates of mine (Vonnetta and Shawn Dotson, Eleni
Dimoulas, Laura Frakey, and Otto Pedraza) at the wedding, along with Avani
Modi who was a bridesmaid. Suzanne Johnson also attended.

Here is a brief
note to let you know what I've been up to since leaving sunny
Gainesville. After completing my internship at Long Island Jewish
Hospital, I took on a two year post-doc at North Shore University
Hospital in child/pediatric neuropsychology. Shortly thereafter, I
started my current job as staff neuropsychologist at The Cody Center
for Autism and Developmental Disabilities at Stony Brook Medical
Center. I do mainly autism spectrum and neuropsychological assessments
and am involved in some research. I also have a small private
neuropsychology practice and am pursuing my ABPP diplomate in
neuropsychology. In non-psychology related news, my wife, also a
psychologist who does research on psychological service use on Long
Island, and I live on Long Island with our nearly 2 year old son - as
the proud papa, I, of course, have to attach a photo to share with
you.
